2.1 million deceased voters removed from list: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has announced that around 2.1 million deceased voters have been excluded from the country’s electoral roll ahead of the upcoming national elections.

He said the Election Commission is updating the voter list through a door-to-door verification process to ensure accuracy and credibility.

The CEC disclosed the information on Sunday during a dialogue with civil society representatives at the Election Commission Secretariat Conference Room in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The event was organised by the commission as part of its preparations for the 13th national elections.
