Robbers looted around 22 bhories of gold from a jewellery shop in the Paschim Dashra area of Manikganj Sadar upazila and assaulted the jeweller late Saturday night.
Police said two robbers entered the ground-floor shop, ‘Abhi Alankar,’ located in Pandav Bhaban, around 12:15 am.
They threatened jeweller Shuvo Das by placing a sharp weapon on his neck and looted gold jewellery worth around Tk 3.6 million (Tk 36 lakh) after breaking open a locker.
When Shuvo tried to resist, the robbers stabbed him with the weapon, leaving him seriously injured, UNB reports.
He was later rushed to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
Additional Superintendent of Police and officials from the concerned police station visited the scene and started an investigation.
Officer-in-Charge of Manikganj Police Station SM Aman Ullah said they are investigating the incident and drives are underway to arrest the suspects.
