A ship carrying 26,620 tonnes of coal for Bagerhat’s Rampal Thermal Power Plant has arrived at Mongla port in the district.
The Chinese-flagged ship, MV J Hai, docked at the 11th anchorage of the Pussur Channel, Harbaria, Mongla port around 5:00 am on Saturday. It departed Indonesia for Bangladesh on May 21, according to local news outlets.
Khandaker Reazul Haque, assistant manager of Togi Shipping and Logistics Limited Khulna and local agent of the ship, confirmed the arrival of the ship.
He informed the media that unloading and transportation activities were going on.
A bdnews24.com report said two shipments of 30,000 tonnes and 30,500 tonnes of coal arrived in Mongla last month for the Rampal plant amid an electricity crisis in Bangladesh.
