Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have seized 28 buses of ‘Rajdhani Paribahan,’ a transport company operating on the Dhaka–Aricha highway, after a female student was allegedly pushed off a bus while boarding.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night near the university’s main gate, leaving the student injured.
According to witnesses, the student was returning from tuition and tried to board the bus from the Savar Thana Stand area. The helper first asked her destination, and after she mentioned Jahangirnagar University, he allowed her to get on.
However, once the bus started moving, the helper again asked where she was headed. When she repeated “Jahangirnagar University,” he allegedly pushed her off the moving bus, causing her to fall and injure her leg.
After the incident, fellow students blocked the highway and detained 28 buses of the company around 8:00 pm in protest.
JU Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam said, “The bus owners will meet with us on Wednesday, and necessary actions will be taken against those responsible.”
