2,996 new virus cases and 33 deaths reported in 24 hours

The number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Bangladesh surged to 263,503 on Tuesday as the country registered 2,996 fresh cases testing 14,820 samples in 86 labs in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, thirty three more people died from Covid-19 during the period, the health directorate said.

With the latest, the death toll from the lethal disease now stands at 3,471.

Nasima Sultana, additional director general (admin) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin.

Besides, A total of 1,535 people recovered from the contagion during the 24 hours under review, taking the total recovery tally to 151,972.

Bangladesh is currently the fifth hardest hit nation in Asia and 15th in the world, according to data available with worldometer. info, an information portal.

Globally, 20,264,612 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 739,342 people died as of Sunday noon.

Of them, 6,328,214 are currently being treated with 64,694 remain in serious or critical condition, according to the worldometer.

So far, 13,197,056 people have recovered.
