Three construction workers die due to electrocution in Bashundhara residential Area; one injured

Three construction workers died from electrocution and another was injured while cleaning an underground water tank at an under-construction building in the Bashundhara Residential Area on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Faridul Islam, 40, son of Rafiqul of Alauddin Nagar Bazar area in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat, Rabbi, 17, son of Tobarak Hossain of Islamnagar village in the same upazila; and Liton, 35, son of late Taiyobur Rahman of Jamgram village.

The injured worker, Shahin, has been admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital and is reportedly out of danger.

Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakibul Hasan said the incident occurred around 12:30pm at an under construction building on Road 14, Block E of the residential area.

The four workers entered the underground water tank of the building to remove bamboo, rods, and other debris using light equipment when they were electrocuted, he said.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Legal procedures are underway in connection with the incident.
