A total of 3269 hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh have reached Saudi Arabia by eight flights to perform the holy Hajj this year.
Of them, 2,819 pilgrims reached in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in 7 flights and 440 in one flight on Wednesday.
Earlier on Monday, Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain officially inaugurated the Hajj flight operations for the Islamic year 1446, or 2025, at Ashkona Hajj Camp in Dhaka.
After the inauguration, the first Hajj flight of this year departed Dhaka, carrying 398 pilgrims, at 2:11am on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia’s national carrier Saudia Airlines (Flight SV-803) operated the aircraft.
A total of 87,100 Bangladeshi pilgrims are set to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year. The government will arrange the travels of 5,200 pilgrims, while trips of the remaining 81,900 will be managed by private Hajj agencies.
The final pre-Hajj flight is scheduled for May 31, while return flights will begin on June 10, following the completion of the Hajj rituals.
