A total of 387 July warriors have been upgraded to the ‘A’ category from their previous ‘B’ and ‘C’ categories, while 474 warriors have been promoted from ‘C’ to ‘B’.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued a notification revising the categories on February 1, which was officially published in the government gazette on February 3, according to a UNB report Thursday.
The government granted July warrior status to individuals injured during the movement that toppled the Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
Those who were severely injured are classified under the ‘A’ category, the seriously injured under ‘B’, and others under ‘C’.
The lists of July warriors in the three categories were released in multiple phases.
Earlier, the gazette recognition of 128 warriors was cancelled due to false information or duplicate entries.
The government provides benefits based on injury categories.
Warriors in the ‘A’ category receive a one-time payment of Tk 500,000 and a monthly allowance of Tk 20,000.
Those in the ‘B’ category receive a one-time payment of Tk 300,000 and a monthly allowance of Tk 15,000.
Warriors in the ‘C’ category receive a one-time payment of Tk 100,000 and a monthly allowance of Tk 10,000.
