The United States has repatriated another group of Bangladeshi nationals, with 39 people arriving in Dhaka early Friday.

The returnees landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 5:30 am on a special US military flight.

Airport authorities facilitated their arrival, while BRAC provided immediate support, including transportation and emergency assistance.

Among the returnees, 26 are from Noakhali. In addition, two each hail from Cumilla, Sylhet, Feni and Lakshmipur, while one each is from Chattogram, Gazipur, Dhaka, Munshiganj and Narsingdi.

With this group, a total of 187 Bangladeshis have been sent back by US authorities so far this year.

According to BRAC Migration Programme officials, at least 34 of the 39 individuals had travelled to Brazil with clearance from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET). From there, they attempted to enter the US illegally via Mexico. Of the remaining five, two travelled directly to the US, while three entered the country via South Africa.

After they applied for residency in the US, authorities completed legal procedures and decided to repatriate them to Bangladesh.
