40 Awami League activists arrested in Gazipur in ‘Operation Devil Hunt’

Gazipur police have arrested 40 Awami League leaders and activists as part of the nationwide crackdown under ‘Operation Devil Hunt’.

The arrests were made across five police stations in Gazipur, a local daily newspaper reports. 

Army personnel have established a checkpoint in front of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s office, conducting searches on various vehicles, including motorcycles.

The operation follows a violent attack on students at the residence of AKM Mozammel Haque, a former government minister, on Friday night (Feb 7).

In response, the Home Ministry launched the operation, leading to joint force raids from Saturday night (Feb 8).
