Around 40 per cent of 40,000 workers Beximco claims to have do not exist, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has said.

“It is being said that Beximco accounts for 40,000 workers, but during our initial investigation, we found no trace of about 40 per cent of these workers. Many pieces of information appear to be fabricated to incite public concern,” he told a press conference organised by the Advisory Council at the Secretariat to review the labour and business situation at Beximco Industrial Park.
