Six trainee assistant superintendents of police from the 40th Bangladesh Civil Service batch have been removed, one of whom came first in the police cadre.
Their removal was announced in a notice from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.
It said that they were removed from their jobs in accordance with Section 6 (2) a of the Bangladesh Civil Service Recruitment Rules, 1981.
That section states that the government can terminate recruits in the case of direct recruitment.
Those removed are Kazi Faizul Karim, Ashraf Uzzaman, Manas Kirtaniya, Shambhu Roy, Sohel Rahman and Sanjib Deb.
Among them, Faizul came first in the police cadre in the 40th BCS. He was a student of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of KUET.
The BNP held a press conference on Oct 17 demanding the immediate cancellation of the recruitment of 803 sub inspectors and 67 assistant superintendent of police who were appointed just before the fall of Sheikh Hasina government. After that, two rounds of training parades were postponed.
Then, on Dec 15, 25 trainee assistant superintendents of police were issued a show cause notice for walking erratically. Two months later, six have been removed.
