43rd BCS: 162 previously dropped candidates get appointments

A total of 162 candidates who were previously dropped from the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) recruitment due to negative intelligence reports have now been appointed to various cadres following reconsideration of their applications.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the recruitment order on Tuesday, directing the newly appointed officers to join their assigned cadre-controlling ministries or offices by June 1.

If no further instructions are provided by the respective ministries, they must report for duty on that date. Failure to join by the deadline will be considered a refusal to accept the appointment, and the recruitment order will be deemed void, it said.

Earlier, on October 15 last year, nearly 10 months after the Public Service Commission (PSC) made its recommendations, the ministry appointed 2,064 candidates to different cadres. However, the PSC had recommended 2,163 candidates in total.

Later, on December 30, the previous appointment order was cancelled, and a fresh notification was issued, appointing 1,896 candidates. This led to protests by those who were excluded.

At that time, the Ministry of Public Administration mentioned that 227 candidates had not been included in the gazette based on recommendations from intelligence agencies.

The ministry later announced that any of these individuals could apply for reconsideration.
