Police arrested 49 individuals involved in vandalism and looting of shops and business establishments in Sylhet and other areas on Monday, during the protests against Israel’s ongoing atrocities on Palestinians in Gaza.
AIG (Media and PR) of the Police Headquarters, Enamul Haque Sagor, confirmed the matter, according to local media reports.
Enamul said that the police held 49 people in connection with the vandalism of shops and business establishments in Sylhet and several other cities across the country.
Cases have been filed against them, and further legal proceedings are underway, he added.
