The final results of the 18th teacher registration examination have been published, with 60,521 candidates clearing the process.

The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) released the results on Wednesday afternoon, bdnews24.com reports.

Candidates can access their results on either http://ntrca.gov.bd or http://ntrca.teletalk.com.bd, using their exam roll and batch numbers.

Details of the results were included in a notice signed by Muhammed Nure Alam Siddique, NTRCA’s member for exam evaluation and certification.

Applicants had been waiting over one and a half years since submitting their forms before receiving the final outcome.

On Nov 2, 2023, the NTRCA published the circular for the 18th registration round, drawing a record-breaking 1.9 million applications.

The preliminary test was held on Mar 15, 2024, followed by the written results on Oct 14, in which 83,865 candidates passed -- a 24 percent success rate.

The NTRCA has been issuing teacher registration certificates since 2005.

Initially, the power to recruit teachers rested with the governing bodies or managing committees of individual educational institutions for a period of 10 years.

That changed on Dec 30, 2015, when the then government expanded the NTRCA’s role, giving it not only certification authority but also the power to recommend appointments.

Since then, through five separate mass recruitment notices, the NTRCA has made 132,898 final recommendations for teacher appointments, as of Aug 31 this year.
