Eleven days have already gone by since the curtain rose on the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, and the fairgrounds have begun to see a noticeable increase in the volume of visitors as the event has reached its midpoint.

With the growing number of visitors, book sales have also increased significantly.

A total of 75 new titles were unveiled on Sunday, the eleventh day of the fair.

With these additions, the total number of newly-published books arriving at this year's fair has reached 833 in the first 11 days, according to the fair's information centre.

Among the books published so far, poetry dominates the list. A total of 280 poetry books have been released, followed by 131 novels and 110 prose titles. Visitors at the fair are showing notable interest in novels, thrillers, literary works, and translated books.

According to writers and publishers, although the fair was lively with visitors during the initial days, the number of people actually purchasing books was comparatively low.

However, sales have increased several folds as the days progressed. While new titles continue to arrive at the fair every day, readers are showing greater interest in older literary works.

Many readers are buying new books as well, but classic literature, novels, thrillers, and translated works remain particularly popular.

At 3:00 pm on Sunday, a discussion programme titled "Asad Chowdhury" was held at the main stage of the fair. The keynote paper was presented by Kudrat-e-Huda, while Saikat Habib took part in the discussion. The session was chaired by Syed Azizul Haque.
