Hundreds of state-funded infrastructures, facilities, and institutions bearing the names of Sheikh Hasina, her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and their family are being rebranded across Bangladesh.
The Chief Advisor’s Office (CAO) said in a notice on Thursday that most of the 977 sites have already been renamed, with the rest undergoing changes.
The sites were established during the Awami League’s 15 and a half years rule and include Army cantonments, airbases, naval ships, mega bridges, roads, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, research centres, and other public buildings.
Hasina was ousted on Aug 5 last year amid a mass uprising and later fled to India.
Since taking over, the interim government has been removing names associated with the Hasina family and senior Awami League leaders from official institutions nationwide.
