97pc textbooks distributed: CA press wing

Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar on Monday said about 97 per cent of textbooks have been distributed and the remaining textbooks will be distributed by mid-March.

He said this while speaking at a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy here this afternoon.

Azad said this year, the distribution of textbooks has been slightly delayed. About 396 million textbooks were supposed to be distributed at various levels; while of those, 382.9 million textbooks have been printed and distributed, he said, adding that it has not been possible to print 10.5 million textbooks yet.

But, the deputy press secretary said, the interim government thinks that it would be possible to print and distribute the remaining textbooks within a week.

Azad said Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has informed that the process of printing textbooks for next year will begin tomorrow.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi were present.
