Amar Bangladesh Party has condemned and protested what it described as deliberate rumours about the arrest of its General Secretary, Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad.

Quite a number of Awami League-leaning bloggers created tensions all over Sunday night by circulating false information on social media that Fuad had been arrested, party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Monju said at an urgent press conference at the party’s central office in the capital’s Bijoynagar on Monday noon.

He alleged that the aim was to destabilise the country and create a crisis by instigating students and the public against the army.

In the face of ongoing unrest among political parties and other groups, Monju called on the public to remain calm and face the situation together.

AB Party Chairman BM Najmul Haq, Joint General Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun, and Assistant Publicity Secretary Ripon Mahmud, among others, were present at the briefing.
