ACC approves case against former BARI DG, 43 others for illegal recruiting process

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved a case against 44 people, including former Director General of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Dr Rafiqul Islam Mandol, for allegedly recruiting 42 scientific assistants illegally, violating government laws and regulations.
The approval was given on Monday from the ACC headquarters, confirmed by the commission’s Deputy Director Md Aktarul Islam.
According to the ACC complaint, in 2013, BARI conducted written and oral exams to fill 20 vacant posts for scientific assistants.
Based on exam results and quota rules, the selection committee recommended 18 candidates for appointment, and BARI officially hired those 18.
However, later ACC investigations revealed that 42 additional people were also appointed illegally.
Among them, 25 had failed the written exam, 14 had failed the interview, and three had not even applied for the job. In total, 42 candidates were appointed unlawfully through fraud and forgery.
The ACC report stated that former BARI DG Dr. Rafiqul Islam Mandol and then Deputy Director (Administration) Md. Mostafizur Rahman were involved in the illegal recruitment process through mutual collusion and deceit.
The accused include the two former officials and 42 recruited scientific assistants.
The illegally appointed scientific assistants are: Md. Serajul Islam, A.K.M. Musa Mandol, Md. Mukul Mia, Md. Nurul Hasan, Sujan Kumar Das, Mashiur Rahman, Md. Enamul Islam, Mamun Ur Rashid, Md. Harun-ur-Rashid, Md. Abu Sayeed Bhuiyan, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Md. Arifuzzaman, Shamsul Alam, G.H.M. Raihan Kabir, Md. Mamunur Rashid, Md. Farhad Ahmed, Md. Abuzar Rahman, Sanjit Kumar Barman, Prokash Chandra Sarkar, Firoz Ahmed, Md. Fazlul Haque, Md. Shariful Islam, Md. Al Mahmud Palash, Md. Tot Mia Mandol, Mehedi Hasan, Md. Sabuj Biswas, Md. Sabuj Ali, Md. Mofizul Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Nasrin Nahar, Md. Humayun Kabir, Md. Golam Sakline, Md. Heluzzaman, Tajul Islam, Md. Mofakhkharul Alam, Md. Rajib Hasan, Md.
