The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved two separate cases against former minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and his wife Rehana Hossain for allegedly acquiring wealth beyond their known sources of income.
ACC Director General Akhter Hossain confirmed this information to journalists on Thursday at the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha.
The cases will be filed at the ACC's Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, with Deputy Director Md. Saiduzzaman as the complainant.
According to the approved allegations, between 1989 and 2025, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, a minister during the Awami League era, accumulated over Tk 122.5 million in assets that are not consistent with his known income sources and made suspicious transactions of more than Tk 1.24 billion through 21 bank accounts.
His wife, Rehana Hossain, has also been accused of possessing over Tk 269.7 million in illegal assets.
