ACC evicts brick kilns in Singair for polluting environment

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday evicted two brick kilns at Singair Upazila in Manikganj on grounds of illegal operation, destruction of agricultural lands and affecting public health.

A team consisting of two executive magistrates of Manikganj district administration, officials of Manikganj Environment Department, officials of fire service and local law enforcers conducted the drive.

ACC's assistant director Saiful Islam and deputy assistant director Mohammad Jinnatul Islam supervised the drive.

Muhammad Munir Chowdhury, director general (administration)  said the brick kilns were operating without any approval from concerned district authorities and Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution.

He also stated that kilns were harming adjacent crops and environment.
