ACC flags irregular plot allocations to 15 drivers from ex-PM Hasina’s office

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has flagged irregularities in the allocation of plots to 15 drivers from the office of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to the ACC, these drivers were given plots under "special consideration" in Dhaka’s Jhilmil Residential Project – though such allocations are meant for individuals with exceptional contributions to the state.

The Ministry of Housing and Public Works issued a letter on 7 February 2024, instructing RAJUK to allocate 3- and 5-katha plots to the drivers. To be specific, one two-katha plot was given for every two drivers, and one five-katha plot for every three.

ACC Director General Akter Hossain revealed the findings at a press conference on Thursday, following an enforcement drive at RAJUK headquarters.

In a separate review, the ACC also examined 934 plots allocated in RAJUK’s Purbachal project under the 2009 policy and initially found that Clause 13/A was not properly followed, with signs of multiple irregularities.
