Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah has sent a letter of resignation to the President, stepping down from the post of Appellate Division judge of the Supreme Court (SC).
Some televisions and local news agencies confirmed the information on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, President Md Abdul Hamid appointed Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, a judge of the Appellate Division as new chief justice of the country.
