Film actor and road safety campaigner Ilias Kanchan is going to launch a new political party, Janatar Party Bangladesh, on Friday.
The launching will take place at the Ruposhi Bangla Grand Ballroom of Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, said Liton Arshad, vice chairman of Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA), a road safety group chaired by Kanchan, on Wednesday.
Kanchan founded NISCHA after losing his wife, Jahanara Kanchan, in a road accident on 22 October 1993.
And ever since, he has been a leading advocate for road safety across the country.
