African delegation to visit Bangladesh for study on Zakat and Islamic Social Finance Management

Under the framework of the Islamic Development Bank’s Project on Zakat, Waqf, and Islamic Social Finance Capacity Building, a 10-member delegation from Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, and Gambia will visit Bangladesh from 17 September to 26 September.

The objective of the visit is to gain insights into the activities of the Center for Zakat Management (CZM) and other leading institutions working in the field of social finance, according to a media release.

During the visit, the delegation will observe CZM’s wide range of initiatives and visit several institutions, including Granada Islamic Academy, CZM Kidney Dialysis Center, Granada Academy, Livelihood Project, RSF Granada Academy, as well as leading organizations such as Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, BRAC Centre, and the Grameen Yunus Centre.

For nearly 17 years, Center for Zakat Management (CZM) has been working nationwide to institutionalize the collection, management, and effective utilization of zakat funds for the development of the poor and underprivileged segments of society, the release says.

To date, CZM has positively impacted the lives of over 1.7 million underprivileged people through its innovative zakat-based development programs, the release adds.
