AL candidate Poppy wins Mymensingh-3 seat after re-polling in postponed centre

Awami League nominee Nilufar Anjum Poppy won the Mymensingh-3 (Gauripur) constituency with the Boat symbol in unofficial results after re-polling in the previously postponed Bhalukapur High School centre on Saturday.

She bagged 1,295 votes in the centre while her nearest contestant independent candidate Somnath Saha got only 355 votes as presiding officer of the centre Prof Mosharraf Hossain announced the results after voting held between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm today.

Including the votes of this centre, Poppy secured a total of 54,491 votes while Somnath Saha got 52,566 votes with the Truck symbol.

In the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election, out of 11 constituencies in Mymensingh district, AL got five seats while independent candidates won the rest of the seats.

Polling in Bhalukapur High School centre was postponed on charge of irregularities in January 7 general elections. AL candidate Poppy led the constituency by 985 votes after the completion of vote counting in the rest of the centres on that day.
