Ali Riaz to lead awareness campaign on general election, referendum

Ali Riaz, special assistant to the chief advisor with the rank of advisor, has been appointed chief coordinator for public awareness campaigns on the parliamentary polls and referendum.
The appointment was confirmed on Wednesday in a letter signed by Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury, director general (Administration) of the chief advisor’s office.
The government has rolled out several programmes aimed at informing citizens about the election process and referendum.
After the formation of the interim government, Riaz first served as head of the Constitutional Reform Commission.
He was later made vice-chairman of the National Consensus Commission, formed to implement the recommendations of six reform commissions.
This body was tasked with building political agreement on reform proposals and successfully finalised the July National Charter on October after extensive dialogue with political parties.
Upon the conclusion of the commission’s mandate, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus brought Riaz into his administration as a special assistant.
