An ambulance carrying the body of a student from Milestone School and College met with an accident on its way to the student’s village home in Tangail.
Several relatives of the deceased, who were accompanying the body, sustained injuries in the incident.
The accident occurred at the Mouchak area in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur district around 2:00 am on Tuesday.
According to police, the ambulance veered off and tilted after hitting a road divider on the highway.
The deceased student was identified as Mehnaz Afrin Humaira, 8, daughter of Delowar Hossain of Telipara area in Sakhipur police station in Tangail.
Police said Humaira died on Monday following a tragic air crash involving a military aircraft at Milestone School and College in Uttara. Her family was transporting her body back to their village when the accident took place.
Army personnel in the area rushed to the scene and helped take the injured relatives to a nearby hospital.
Fortunately, none of the injuries were reported to be serious, and the victims were released after receiving primary treatment.
