The Anti-corruption National Coordinating Committee has suggested amendments to the constitution and elimination of corruption to take the country forward.
The organisation made the call at a meeting at the Dhaka University’s Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium on Sunday, according to a UNB report.
Chaired by Sarwar Wadud Chowdhury, spokesperson of the committee, Prof Maimul Ahsan Khan presented the keynote at the event.
While addressing, spokesperson Sarwar recommended that Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus appoint an unpaid team of ten honest experts to ensure corruption-free and good governance in every ministry, following the examples of Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew and Malaysia's Mahathir bin Mohammed.
Recommending immediate arrest of corrupt culprits and building a corruption-free Bangladesh, he put forward an 11-point demand.
The demand included practising free democracy and establishing the rule of law, law and justice division, development of state banks and financial institutions, reorganisation of Anti-Corruption Commission, formation of independent Election Commission, sustainable development of education system, reorganisation of Public Service Commission, development in RMG and export sectors, constitutional amendments and reforms, reformation of political parties and formation of investigation commission.
