Angry mob catches ‘mugger’ in Jashore

A suspected mugger was caught by angry mob while snatching money from a school teacher at DC Banglo area of the city on Tuesday.

The locals handed the man to police after giving him a mass beating, witnesses said.

The detainee was identified as Raju Hossain, 30, son of Abdur Razzak of Dargapara area in Boalia police station of Rajshahi, reports UNB.

The victim school teacher, Tostifen Saraj Mandal said he was waiting for a rickshaw after withdrawing Tk 100,000 from a savings certificate at DC Banglo area while 3-4 men snatched his money.

Later, hearing the scream of the victim, local people caught one of the hijacker and gave a mass beating, he said.

Sub-inspector Saidul Alam of Kotwali Police Station said they were trying to catch rest of the hijackers.
