Another man dies, taking death toll from Bhairab train accident to 18

Another victim has died from injuries suffered in the train accident in Bhairab, taking the death toll from the rail collision to 18.
The dead man was identified as Belal Mia, according to Sadiqur Rahman Shobuj, the Bhairab Upazila executive officer.
He hailed from Narsingdi’s Belab Upazila and was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday night with injuries following the train accident.
“Belal Mia lived in Bhairab and was headed to Dhaka on the Egaro Sindhur Express. After the accident, he was first sent to Chandiber Hospital. He was then transferred to Dhaka Medical. Today, we received news of his death.”
The Egaro Sindhur Express was headed from Kishoreganj to Dhaka on Monday when it was struck from behind near the Bhairab Rail Station.
Several carriages of the passenger train were heavily damaged and overturned. Over a dozen people were killed and at least 100 were injured.
The injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, or the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, popularly known as Pongu Hospital.
