The accused individuals, including former ministers, police officials, and media personalities, were also held responsible in connection with instigating mass killing during last year's July-August uprising.

The BNP activist, Mahfuzul Alam Shrabon, a resident of Sadar upazila in Naogaon, who used to live at Mirpur area in the city, was shot dead on August 5 last year when he participated in a rally brought out by the students and others at the area.

Mostafizur Rahman Bappi, brother of Shrabon, filed the case on April 20 this year with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court in Dhaka. Later, the court ordered the Mirpur Police Station to record the complaint as an FIR.
