A 38-year-old woman who suffered burn injuries in an explosion from accumulated gas near the BSCIC area in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district on Thursday died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Bacha Chowdhury, daughter of Nani Gopal Majumdar of Sunamganj district.
Bacha, who sustained 45 per cent burn injuries and was undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, succumbed to her injuries around 1:45 am, said resident surgeon Dr Shawon Bin Rahman of the hospital.
With the death of Bacha, the death toll from the incident climbed to two, UNB reports.
Earlier, Manab Chowdhury, husband of Bacha, died at the hospital on Sunday.
Three daughters of the couple — Tinni, 12, with 22 per cent burn injuries, Munni, 14, with 28 per cent burn injuries, and Mouri, 6, with 36 per cent burn injuries — are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
On September 4, five members of the family suffered burn injuries in the blast.
