Anti-discrimination Student Movement leaders assemble for talks

The Anti-discrimination Student Movement, the platform which led the protests that toppled the Awami League government, has begun a meeting to discuss the current circumstances in Bangladesh and outline its upcoming programmes.

Hasib al-Islam, one of the coordinators of the movement, told bdnews24.com that the meeting kicked off at their central office at Rupayan Tower in Dhaka at 3:30pm on Wednesday.

Only 158 central coordinators are attending the meeting. There will also be discussions on increasing coordination between the central and local organisers, Hasib said.

The student platform, which transformed from an anti-quota group into an anti-government movement in July, has now taken shape into a formal organisation.

Three of the movement’s coordinators are serving as advisors to the interim government, holding ranks equivalent to that of ministers.
