Anti-quota movement: Police clash with protesting Cumilla University students

Students of Comilla University were obstructed by police while on their way to block the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Thursday, demanding the abolition of discriminatory quotas in all grades of government jobs.

During the scuffle, students threw bricks and stones at the police. To control the situation, the police fired several rounds of blank bullets and tear gas shells.

At least 20 people, including police, journalists, and students, were injured in the incident that occurred at around 3:15 pm today. Some of the wounded were taken to hospital in a university ambulance.
