The Election Commission (EC) has said that the Bangladesh Army will be deployed as a striking force during the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held on January 7.
The decision came from the meeting of the EC with the principal staff of the Army on Monday evening, according to media reports.
A total of 750,000 members of law enforcement agencies will remained deployed at the field level across the country, alongside the army, EC sources said.
