A Dhaka court on Thursday issued arrest warrant against e-commerce platform Qcoom's chairman Md Ayub Ali and its managing director (MD) Md Ripon Miah in a fraud case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam passed the order as the accused failed to appear before the court for today's hearing, complainant's counsel Sakibul Islam told BSS news agency.
Complainant Mehedi Hasan Foysal, owner of 3S Corporation BD, made an order of Tk 8.24 million (Tk 82.44 lakh) from Qcoom's "Big Billion Returns" campaign on June 27, 2021. He was supposed to get the products under his order within 21 to 25 working days, but the online shopping platform failed to do this.
Foysal on August 13, 2024, filed the case against Qcoom's chairman and its MD and the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter.
PBI, in its investigation, found the allegations brought against the duo true and filed report in this regard. The court on January 28 accepted the PBI report and summoned the accused to appear before it today.
