Miscreants have once again set fire to the Gazi Tyre factory, owned by former Narayanganj-1 MP and former minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, while also looted damaged machinery.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Rupganj of Narayanganj. People engaged in the security of the factory and locals managed to bring the fire under control shortly after. This marks the third consecutive case of looting and arson at the factory.

According to local sources, around 40 to 50 individuals broke through the eastern side of the factory’s barbed-wire fence in the afternoon, entering the premises to loot metal machinery. A section of the group then set fire to parts of the factory.

Previously, on August 5, following the fall of the Awami League government, the first round of looting and arson took place at the factory. The second incident occurred on August 25, when miscreants set fire to the premises again. The fire was brought under control after 32 hours.
