Asad Alam Siam to be appointed new foreign secretary

The government is going to appoint Asad Alam Siam, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States, as the next foreign secretary of the country.

Local news portals said he was asked to take the new charge after returning home within June 20, 2025.

Ambassador Siam will replace current Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin.

Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain on Wednesday told reporters that Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin himself is quitting his post.

“He may be given another responsibility,” he added.
