Asif Nazrul says he faces ‘Indian agent’ label for not entertaining unethical lobbying efforts

Law Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has said that he faces online smear campaigns for turning down what he describes as ‘unethical lobbying efforts’.

“As soon as I refuse to entertain unethical lobbying efforts made by people, they begin to label me as an 'Indian agent’. Some even produce programmes referencing things associated with me from 40 to 50 years ago,” he told a discussion held at the CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday.

“I quietly tolerate it, like an oyster. I do not take any action—not even respond, let alone pursue legal steps,” he added.

The Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) organised the dialogue with its executive director, Zillur Rahman, moderating it.
