M Azizur Rahman (Ripon) was elected chairman and Serajul Islam Siraj executive director (ED) of the Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh (FERB).
The election was held at Bijoy Hall of Bidyut Bhaban in the city on Sunday. Prior to the election, the biennial meeting of the organisation was held with FERB chairman Shamim Jahangir in the chair.
Azizur Rahman has long been working as a Special Correspondent of The Financial Express and as Stringer with S&P Global Energy and Gas Outlook, while Serajul Islam is the Chief Reporter of Barta24.com.
Other elected members of the nine-member Executive Committee are: Vice Chairman Hasan Azad, Senior Reporter of Dainik Kalbela; Director (Development and Finance) Fazle Rabbi, Special Correspondent of Charcha; Director (Research and Training) Abu Taher, Deputy Chief Reporter of Dainik Bonik Barta; Director (Data Bank) Sajib Ahmed, Senior Reporter of Kaler Kantho; Director (Entertainment and Welfare) Atikur Rahman Faisal, Senior Reporter of Ajker Patrika; Executive Members Jannatul Ferdousi Shova, Senior Reporter of Deshkal News, and Mahbub Rony, Senior Reporter of The Daily Ittefaq.
The election was conducted by former director of Public Relations Department of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Saiful Hasan Chowdhury, as the chief election commissioner.
