Back-to-back fires hit Karwan Bazar and Moghbazar

Two separate fires broke out at a shanty adjacent to the Karwan Bazar railway gate in Tejgaon and at an eight-storey building in Moghbazar on Thursday night.

Duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room Rakibul Hasan said they received the first call at 8:50pm from Karwan Bazar and the second at 9:18pm from Dilu Road in Moghbazar.

Two fire-fighting units brought the Tejgaon blaze under control by 9:05pm, while another two units doused the Moghbazar fire by 9:40pm.

The cause of the fires and the extent of damage could not be known immediately, the fire service official added.
