BAF annual exercise ends

The Annual Exercise 2024 of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) came to an end on Wednesday.

Chief of Air Staff of BAF Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan visited different bases during the exercise to witness the performance and activities, according to an ISPR press release.

The exercise was conducted by the Air Command Operation Center (ACOC) under the overall plan of BAF.

During the exercise, the pilots of BAF practiced various types of aerial tactics including air strikes, interceptions, surveillance of enemy positions, supply of logistics, transportation of troops and weapons, special operations, surveillance by drone, search and rescue missions, etc.

The exercise was conducted in three phases, Communication Exercise (COMEX), Logistic Exercise (LOGEX) and Live Exercise (LIVEX).

During this exercise, identification of the enemy aircraft through various radar squadrons were carried out, and the mechanism to neutralise the attack was practiced with the help of fighter and missile units.

Notable exercises were the Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission by BAF helicopter and BAF Commando team, emergency logistics supply by BAF transport aircraft, identification of explosives and neutralisation by BAF Bomb Disposal Unit and Scramble by Air Defense Alert (ADA) aircraft to neutralise enemy intruders, surveillance by drones and time-sensitive targets, etc. 

All BAF personnel and weapon systems of the Bangladesh Air Force, including fighters, transport aircraft, helicopters and radar squadron, missile unit and Unmanned Aerial System Unit (UASU), participated in this exercise from different BAF bases, stations and units, including Sylhet, Tangail, Lalmonirhat, Shamshernagar, Barishal, Rasulpur and Sudharam.

Bangladesh Army, Navy, BGB, Police, Civil Defense and BNCC (Air Wing) also participated in this exercise to make it more effective and realistic. Through this exercise, the existing combat capability of the BAF will be assessed.
