A training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has crashed in the capital. The aircraft went down on Monday (July 21) afternoon on the campus of Milestone School and College in the Diabari area of Uttara.
At least one person has been confirmed dead in the incident, while 25 others have been hospitalised, according to the Fire Service.
In a brief statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the F-7 BGI aircraft took off at 1:06 pm. Flight Lieutenant Toukir Islam Sagar was onboard as the only pilot at the time of the crash.
According to initial reports, the jet crashed onto the roof of the college building at around 1:20 pm, causing a fire.
10 units of the Fire Service are currently working at the scene, with a helicopter and two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) deployed to assist in the rescue operation.
