Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram will be inaugurated on October 28.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader gave the information during a press conference at the Bridges Division office in the capital on Monday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the first-ever underwater road in the country on that day.
Besides, the minister said the Agargaon-Motijheel route of metro rail in Dhaka will open for passengers in mid-October.
Obaidul Quader said Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Tejgaon section of Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be inaugurated on September 2.
He said traffic will be allowed on the expressway a day after the inauguration.
“If the first phase of the expressway is opened, traffic congestion will be eased to a large extent,” the minister hoped.
