Bangladesh chapter of SAARC Journalist Forum condoles death of ex-PM Khaleda Zia

The Bangladesh chapter of the SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) has expressed its profound sorrow and deep condolences at the demise of Begum Khaleda Zia, former prime minister of Bangladesh and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. 

“As the country’s first woman prime minister, she played a significant role in shaping the nation’s democratic journey and left an indelible mark on national politics through decades of active public life,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Her leadership, resilience, and contribution to the political discourse of Bangladesh will be remembered for generations.”

The SJF chapter also extended its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members, party colleagues, and admirers of the late leader.

“We pray for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the nation to bear this irreparable loss,” it said, concluding: “May she rest in peace!”
