The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has set up a control room to assist expats amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
The facility will remain open from 8am to 8pm every day from Mar 10 to Mar 16, according to a government statement issued on Tuesday.
The statement said officers and employees would operate the control room in three shifts to ensure uninterrupted service.
The centre has been established at the Expatriates’ Welfare Building in Dhaka’s Eskaton.
Bangladeshi migrant workers can contact the ministry’s hotline at +8809610102030 at any time for assistance related to the ongoing conflict.
An office order issued in this regard said Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, director general of the Wage Earners Welfare Board, will oversee the holistic management of the control room.
Hedayetul Islam Mandal, deputy secretary of the Employment-1 Branch of the ministry, has been assigned as the focal point officer of the facility.
According to the office order, on-duty officials at the control room will maintain communication with labour welfare wings abroad when necessary, considering the evolving war situation in the Middle East.
