Bangladesh Railway completes six projects under first LoC deal

Bangladesh Railway has so far completed six projects out of 12 taken under the first Line of Credit (LoC) deal.

The disclosure was made at a review meeting in the city on Thursday.

The meeting, chaired by Railway Minister Mohammad Mujibul Haque, informed that three more projects under the first LoC will to be completed by June whereas the rest three projects could exceed the stipulated timeframe.

These are Khulna-Mongla Rail line construction project, Kulaura-Shahbazpur section rehabilitation project and Dhaka-Tongi section 3rd and 4th Dual gauge lane and Tongi-Joydevpur Section Dual Gauge line construction project.

According to the meeting sources, Bangladesh Railway has so far disbursed US $325.67 million out of $816 million allotted for 12 projects under the first LoC.

Under the 2nd LoC and 3rd LoC, Bangladesh Railway gets an allocation of $503.17 million for implementing three projects and $526.23 million for implementing two projects.

Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Moshiur Rahman, Rail Secretary Mofazzel Hossain and BR Director General Amzad Hossain attended the meeting.
