Bangladesh has been ranked among the top three most dangerous countries for journalists in 2024, trailing only war-torn Palestine and Pakistan.
The country has recorded five journalist deaths this year, contributing to a global tally of 54 journalist fatalities.
A significant number of these deaths have been linked to the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
The findings were presented in a report released on Thursday by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a global organization that advocates for the rights of journalists.
Out of the 54 journalists killed worldwide, 18 lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces. Among them, 16 were killed in Gaza, while two journalists were killed in Lebanon, according to the report.
The report presents data collected up until December 1 of this year.
